License Terms

Effective October 29, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Mach Advisory (“we”, “us”), the maker of SealedThread. By activating or using SealedThread you accept them. If you're accepting them for a company or firm, you confirm you can bind it to them, and “you” includes it.

1. Your license

When you pay for SealedThread, we give you a license code and a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to install and use the app, for personal or business purposes, on up to the number of Macs your license covers. That number is in your license email and is normally two. You can deactivate a Mac in the app at any time to free its place for another.

You own the license; we own the software. We don't sell you the software itself, and we keep every right not given to you in these terms.

2. What you may not do

• Share, sell, rent or publish your license code, or use it on more Macs than it covers.
• Get around the license check, or alter the app to remove or fake it.
• Copy, modify or redistribute the app, or reverse engineer it, except where the law allows you to despite this limit.
• Use SealedThread to break the law, including laws on privacy, recording and access to other people's devices or accounts.

If you need a license transferred, for example to a colleague or a new owner of your practice, email us and we'll usually help.

3. Your messages and your responsibility

SealedThread works only with data already on your Mac, or files you choose to import. You confirm you have the right to access, copy and export that data. Laws on recording and sharing communications differ between places, and some messages may be confidential or privileged. Check with your attorney before you share an export.

Your data never reaches us (see the Privacy Policy), so we can't recover it, and you're responsible for keeping your own backups.

4. Not legal advice

SealedThread helps you preserve and present messages. It doesn't give legal advice and doesn't create an attorney–client relationship. Fingerprints, certificates, custody logs and draft statements help show that records are complete and unchanged, but whether evidence is admitted, and what weight it gets, is for the court. We don't promise any outcome in any matter.

SealedThread shows what Apple's and WhatsApp's own files hold. If those apps didn't keep something, such as text unsent within two minutes, an attachment not downloaded to the Mac, or a WhatsApp message deleted for everyone, SealedThread can't recover it.

5. Refunds

If SealedThread isn't right for you, email support@sealedthread.com within 30 days of your purchase for a full refund. We'll deactivate the license when we refund it. This doesn't limit any refund rights you have under consumer law where you live.

6. Updates and support

Your license includes every update to SealedThread version 1 at no extra cost. A future major version may be sold separately; if it is, your version 1 keeps working. Support is by email at support@sealedthread.com.

Activation needs our license server once per Mac. Once activated, SealedThread keeps working without it. If we ever shut the server down, we'll release an update or a way to activate that doesn't need it.

7. Pre-release versions

Pre-release, beta and trial builds are provided to try out. They may have bugs or missing features, and we can end them at any time.

8. Ending the license

Your license lasts until you or we end it. You can end it by deleting SealedThread. We may revoke your license if you seriously break these terms, for example by sharing your code publicly, or if a payment for it is reversed. When a license ends you must stop using the app.

9. Warranty

SealedThread is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that it will read every message in every database format Apple or WhatsApp may use.

10. Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or the outcome of any legal matter, arising from your use of SealedThread. Our total liability for any claim about SealedThread is limited to the amount you paid for your license.

Some places don't allow these exclusions or limits, so some of them may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.

11. Trademarks

SealedThread is a trademark of Mach Advisory. iMessage, FaceTime and macOS are trademarks of Apple Inc. WhatsApp is a trademark of WhatsApp LLC. SealedThread isn't affiliated with or endorsed by either.

12. Changes and the rest

We may update these terms for future versions and will change the date at the top. The terms you accepted when you bought your license keep applying to it unless you agree to new ones. If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement about SealedThread between you and us.
